What are DNS records?

DNS records are useful if you need to point a domain/subdomain to another IP or hostname.
There are several types of DNS records you can create:
‘A’ record:
‘A’ record is used to point domains and subdomains to an IP address. This IP address can be any IP address, not confined to a server IP address. For example, your broadband connection at home is assigned a static IP by your ISP, then you can use A record to point a domain/subdomain to this IP address. After that you can call it by using the hostname, for instance: home.example.com or example.com.

Choosing A Great Domain Name For Your Blog

When you first start out blogging you probably will start out with a free blog such as blogspot. By doing this you dont have the option to have your own domain name. This however is important if you want to be serious about your blog. If you are serious about blogging you should get your own hosting (as mentioned before in a previous post) and your own domain name.
Once you decide to buy a domain name you need to find one that is not registered yet. This task can be a bit more difficult then you expect because majority of the good domain names are already taken. However there are a few tools you can use to find domain names.
